Discovery WS “Sound & Connection with Sammy”
Join Kodo members Masami Miyazaki (a.k.a. Sammy) and Jun Jidai for a workshop with a twist. Sammy leads Taiko Experience workshops year round at Sado Island Taiko Centre, while Jun spends most of the year on tour with Kodo. For EC 2020, Sammy wanted to offer something new, so she is joining forces with Jun to bring you a discovery workshop that focuses on the feeling of taiko, rather than its sound.
What kind of feelings do you think Kodo puts into the sound it shares with its audiences? Why does listening to taiko cheer us up, or give us courage? You’ll unlock those secrets and more at this workshop.
This is an opportunity to meet new people, discover new sides to taiko, and create a one-of-a-kind song together!

Participant Requirements：Ages 6 & over (ages 6 to 12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian)
Participation conditions: The workshop will require to have access to a PC/laptop, tablet, or mobile device that can run ‘Zoom’ (video communication tool).
Regarding workshop participation:
-One week before the workshop date, participants will be sent an email outlining details of some things we would like you to think about and prepare before the workshop!
*Please note that the live workshops will be mainly conducted in Japanese, however, there will be English support available.

- How to Take Part
- ①Get ready for the Workshop! : Approx 1 week prior to the workshop, we will let you know what we would like you to prepare beforehand. (Likely things you will find around the house!)
②On the day of the WS: Participate in the online live workshop on either of the specified days!
③During EC: Sometime during the EC live stream across the 3 days of EC, we will share some stories of what actually went on in the workshops. Perhaps there might been be a special collaboration between the participants and instructors!
