Due to the global spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), we need to consider a range of options for Earth Celebration 2020, scheduled for Aug. 21 (Fri)—23 (Sun).

We had planned to share event details in English on April 25. However, in light of this situation, Earth Celebration Committee has decided to postpone this announcement until early June

Someone I know from overseas told me recently that birds have returned to beaches where there are fewer people now. People have stopped their usual activities, and the earth is healing as a result. Perhaps COVID-19 is a chance for us to reconsider our way of life. A test for humankind.


Due to the current global situation, we have decided to postpone our upcoming announcement of EC 2020 event details. We need time to consider what kind of forum for exchange Earth Celebration can become amidst these unprecedented circumstances. At times like these, I am sure there is all the more need for us to send a message to the world from Sado Island.
